Coping strategies are super important, but the best ones can be a little elusive. Maybe you’ve thought of a fantastic technique to use, but you can rarely find the energy to act on it when you’re distressed. Maybe you always turn towards an instant fix, but you know it actually hurts you in the long run.

The Importance of Coping Strategies

Coping is how we get through hard times. Without these strategies, we might not be able to handle an anxiety attack, stressful project at work, or accomplish our own dreams and goals. Coping strategies are the foundation that holds our mental health together when the world around us gets a little chaotic. They’re the most basic thing you need to master so you can live the life you’re dreaming of.

In this episode, I talk about three of my best coping mechanisms too. One helps when I’m feeling scared and vulnerable, I use another when I need to boost my mood, and the last helps clear my head.

These three might be super helpful to you, but even if they’re not, this episode is still bound to help you out. I also talk about how to design your own coping techniques—catered towards your own individual needs.

There are a couple questions I’ll prompt you with so you can see if your strategy is easy to act on and ultimately beneficial. Once you’ve finished this episode, you’ll know exactly how to cope with any hard time you face.

    One thing I do that’s a little silly but super helpful is throwing ice. I’ll go outside and just chuck ice cubes at the ground. They break and it’s very satisfying. Helps with stress, anger, anxiety.
